"DownTownHost Review by A Happy Customer"
The sign-up process was very fast for me. After paying the hosting fee, I got my account set up and ready almost immediately. I found that they had the latest Cpanel (an award-winning control panel for web hosting). The interface is quite cool too in my opinion... Then I set up a mirror of this blog on DownTownHost server and started to test it. To my surprise, it was really slow. I was somehow disappointed, but I still hoped that it was just temporary, so I submitted a support ticket to see how. To my surprise (again), they responded to my complaint within less than half an hour. From there, they actively tested and exchanged messages with me for about 36 hrs. We exchanged around 40 messages in total, but my total waiting time (the time between sending a message & receiving a reply) was only 12h42′ (or 38′ per message on average)... I eventually found out that it was me who caused the prolem because I forgot to change some configuration when setting the mirror on DownTownHost server. After I fixed it, the mirror became very fast (much faster than my old host).

Downtown Host Reviews (December 27, 2007)
Review by maniakaz (Review date December 27, 2007, with various follow-ups)
"Downtownhost.com: review"
Signed today for a Bronze plan for 1 year... Then:
14:09 - DTH signup email
14:12 - wellcome email.
Later chatted with their support staf about possibility to restore y site from backup. I have to notice that prior to this their support told it would take 10 days (if I remember well) to move site from Cpanel to Cpanel. So, I decided it would take too long and took backup/restore option. Support tyold me I need to send email and they will do everything else for me. When I finished uploading, emailed them:
15:37 - autoresponder. "Request received"
15:40 - answer from their staff. Site fully restored. ALl they asked from me was not to change in Cpanel. But since there was no information, I did not change anything.
Later I wanted some information about multidomain and tried to reach support chat. Tried 3 times, nobody answered. Later I managed to catch Sebastian and he explained me everything in details. I am very satisfied the way Sebastian works and treats his company's customers.
Prior to this I have bombarded Jedito and DTH support with lots of questions, sometimes trying to get real help, sometimes just testing.
Overall, support is at least 9/10, speed - 10/10.
Follow-up #1:
First impression: site functions slower when compared to what is was at TCH.
Issues:
1. Some problems with my Joomla. At December 29 my Joomla crashed. I contacted support (2007 12 29. 07:58). Soon I was answered something was corrupt and needs to be deleted. The question was if I ok that. Some hours later (7, if I do recall it good) I received an answer telling that
Quote:
This message concerns your Ticket #FIH-215366. We have not received any response back from you in 48 hours
. I responded to support telling "Yes, I give ok on any action that would help to restore my site.". Site was restored, password was restored by first request.
2. Today my site crashed without any explanation. Lasted for maximum 20 seconds (or how long does it take to see Joomla's screen of death and log back into admin panel?). Did not contact support as it solved automatically.
3. yesterday tried to contact support some 3 times without luck. Later realised I had no need to do so - and did not answer to Jorge's email.
Issue number 2 is natural, I think + it did not cause any problems. Support, when is contacted, is allways top quality: the way it is accustomed at DTH and the way it should be anywhere.
Some technical problems remain, but they are my own requirements and has nothing to do with DTH. I think I will solve tyhem one day (untill now - no luck). After issue number 2 there has been no problems untill yesterday.
Overall, I am satisfied with them and I am staying with DTH. Money back? No, thanks.
Follow-up #2:
Negative: none. No downtime, no crash, nothing bad at all.
Jobs done: Installed Typo3 cms on subdomain - works perfectly. I thought there was an opportunity that Joomla will conflict with Typo3. No conflicts. Installed SMF forum - works nice. 2)Parked one domain (which I reveal later).
I am very satisfied with Downtownhost.com. Next month my Typo3 website will start working and getting some real traffic. That's going to be a kind of exam.
Follow-up #3:
One accident: forgot login/passw combination for main site. Tried several passwords and boom - site is gone. Did not ghet the point, bombarded support with "what happens?". It turned to be 100% my fault: after too many attempts their firewall blocked me. Soon everything was restored.
My fault, not theirs - and no more problems with DTH.
I finally have add-on domain (first time in my life!), www.monetos.net. Still in RC phase (Gallery does not work properly). First it functioned as sub-domain of my main website, now as normal domain. No problems found.
Follow-up #4:
2 problems arose:
1) both sites were unavailable 10 April from cca 18 o'clock. Do not know how long did it take, because my internet connection reappeared obnly at 19 o'clock and everything was doing fine. Asked at DTH forum and was told:
The server was momentarily "attacked" by "bots <...>indeed, [server]never was down, but it was overloaded
status: solved.

"Downtownhost 1 Year in Review"
I have been using a company called Downtownhost or DTH for short for over a year now... What stands out to me is the support that they offer, I have submitted a few tickets and they have respond within 5 minutes or less. I did not expect the service to be that quick, in most cases I’m use to waiting 24 hours or more but with DTH it seems that support is on top of any ticket or issues you may have. Beyond that the staff is very friendly always asking if anything else is needed or sometimes going out of their way to either solve your problem or explain something you may not understand.
In addition you will receive a stable and shared hosting plan, something that in the web hosting industry is hard to find. It doesn’t seem that they oversell their plans as the servers are as stable as you treat them. They offer CPANEL and all the software including fantastico is up to date.
However, I have had some downtime to speak of but it has been minimal and somewhat unnoticed. They do the best they can against DdoS attacks but when it comes to a technical issues on the server they are quick to take care of the problem.

"DownTownHost review"
I am with DTH for almost 4 months and has been very satisfied. So, I thought I'd post a review here.
I am on their blog package, 1GB of space and 50GB of bandwidth at $5.99. I have to say their support teams are wonderful as they managed to solved every single problem I had every time, literally. Also, I love their 'Live Chat' on their website, once you click it, a conversation with them will start, the only bad thing is sometimes it takes longer than 2minutes which is acceptable
So far, the uptime and speed has been good.

I am hosting my sites with DownTownHost since July 08 and i must say i am really impressed with their quality of service, uptime and site speed. I haven't experienced any major issue yet accept some server modules were not upgraded and were vulnerable so i reported them. Everything is fine now.

Downtown Host Reviews (August 8, 2003)

"My experience with downtownhost.com.."
Jorge has been very nice and reasonable to all of my requests, the speed has been superb 99.9% of the time, i have never seen any downtime but i have seen slowness a few times, and i understand no server is perfect.
The part i like most about Jorge is he is always fast to reply to my emails, one time he replied right away (% minutes) and the max time has been 4 days (See below) But usually takes him 2-10 hours to reply as he does sleep! But mostly around 3-4 hours at average.
Now, the only bad part as it has taken him a few days to reply due to him being sick, and a few others i can't remember, but either the problem was fixed before he replied, or it was a minor problem that needed to be fixed as there isn't many problems that acquire.

Downtown Host Reviews (April 24, 2009)
Review by Fastian (Review date April 24,2009)
"Downtownhost.com – A detailed review"
After being let down by HZ, I looked for my options and decided to go with DTH. Amazingly, the site that took more than 110% CPU at HZ was running without a glitch. ... I was so happy with DTH that I even got a reseller account and started hosting my friend's sites.
During that time, I also had an account with Hosgator (aka HG) for about 4 months that I used for hosting one blog. It was end of year 2007 when my blog started getting heavy traffic. Unfortunately, that was more than what HG servers were built to handle... And guess what, I moved that site to DTH reseller account and it worked there without an issue. Although, initially (without WP Cache) the CPU usage was as high as 20%-25%, my site worked without an error. Jedito was kind enough to let me tweak few things without shutting down the site. And when I was finally able to implement Cache, the CPU usage/load became 3.5%.
Hardware:
I am with DTH since August 2007 and so far other than two major issues, I haven't seen any other problem with them. One in January 2009, when there was a DDOS attack on the server and I experienced connectivity issue; and one in March209, when there was some server problem. I am happy that they were able to sort it out quickly.
DTH score: (9/10)
Support:
That's where DTH beats any other host any time of the day. Sometimes, I get the feeling that I am not using support desk but chatting with them. The shortest reply I got was in less than 1 minute. And it's not just one time; most of my tickets were responded in less than 10-15 minuets. I wouldn't say that ALL of my tickets were answered within minute. The longest response I got was in 4 hours. But I am still happy because instead of getting reply like "We will update you shortly"... I got the reply "It's done". Whenever I needed them, they were there to help out. For me, it's the best support I ever got.
DTH score: (11/10)
Billing/Sales/Customer Service:
With DTH, I always felt that I am a special customer rather than "just another customer" feeling. Whenever I asked for a "little" favor from billing/sales, I got more than I ever wished. I have never seen such a friendly host (and I have been with more than 8 hosts now).
DTH score: (12/10)

For me, it's the best support I ever got.
DTH score: (11/10)
Billing/Sales/Customer Service:
With DTH, I always felt that I am a special customer rather than "just another customer" feeling. Whenever I asked for a "little" favor from billing/sales, I got more than I ever wished. I have never seen such a friendly host (and I have been with more than 8 hosts now).
